Shed project, Day 1

Ann and (Ken's) Aunt Jean and (Henry and Esti's) Uncle Joe are in town for a barnraising.  Actually, a shed-raising.  We have no yard, so the envisioned shed for bicycles and snow shovels is going to have to be in our driveway.
Ann and Jean arrived today, having driven out from Wisconsin, and immediately got to work.  They started with a fun part: taking down the rotten old fence where the shed would be.  Prying out the nails.
Tapping out nails. (Jean: "I told a friend we were coming out to Massachusetts to build a shed with my nephew, and she asked if we knew how to do it.  I was like, are you kidding?  My dad was always building all kinds of things with us - we built all kinds of things over the years. I don't remember ever holding a baby rattle. But I definitely remember holding my first hammer. Now it's time to impart that knowledge to the next generation of women.")

Look, Ma, no fence!

Summer

Some stuff happened this year.  Bad stuff: appendicitis.  Good stuff: tenure for two.  Random stuff. Everyone grew. I'll blog about it sometime, maybe.  At least I'll post the pictures.  (Now that Henry reads everything, voraciously, I'm a little more leery of writing.)  Meanwhile, let's just draw a big line under that missing year and pick up in the present.

Happy summer, folks.
