Walking with Grandpa

I love that little shirt she's wearing... it started out as a dress... she's grown so much this summer.

Lazy Saturday in Andover

I've been burning it at both ends: staying up nights doing class prep or trying to finally send off the manuscript, then waking up with Esti at 6 or 7. Today was a nice break. Gorgeous weather in the aftermath of the hurricane (Spy Pond was just perfect this morning), and a happy little girl to keep us company.
Andover farmers' market:

On the town green:

We kept trading hats. The steal-mommy's-hat game is Esti's new version of the old pacifier game.

And of course she would not consent to wear her own hat at all. She's going to be trouble, this one.

While Daddy's away...

Back in Arlington last week. Esti and I got on great, even had time to do a tiny bit of childproofing. Obviously not enough. I thought the toys on the second shelf were enough to distract her from the dictionaries, but no. While Daddy's away...

...time to raid his comic book collection!

Off to Madison

Aug 20 - at Logan Airport, about to fly to Wisconsin to join Daddy and Henry.

Peek-a-boo. She was beautiful on the evening flight: wore her pajamas, drank her milk, and then slept through the flight to Milwaukee, the dash to the connecting flight, and the whole short flight to Madison.

A few days after arrival, getting accustomed to local food portions.

Another melancia enthusiast

This was the first time Ken and Henry had already left for Wisconsin but Esti and I hadn't yet -- got that? (Now we're on the second time.)

Anyway, the important thing is that Esti seems fully to share Henry's tastes in food: she can eat her weight in tomatoes, blueberries, and watermelon.

Melancia, por favor!

Just got to remember which end to eat.

Walking, as promised

Esti and I have been back in Massachusetts since 8/29; classes started Sept 2 for me. We're at my parents' house for the long weekend, so this afternoon Esti got to show off her newly acquired bipedality on the Andover town green.

Every normal child learns to walk at one point or another.  Why then does it feel so uniquely miraculous when your own does it?
